Unit 1: Blogging
We began this unit by discussing why people blog. Some people use a blog as a journal entry, others as a class project, and still more as a way of saving important hyperlinks. Most people blog to share original ideas mixed with factual information that they would like to share with an audience.
Blogs have headlines, text, graphics or drawings, and a comments section. In our class, we started with paper blogging. Paper blogging is just what it sounds like - blogs written on paper instead of on a website! This gave us an opportunity to dissect the process of blogging and discuss what we might want to blog about! Each student was asked to blog about a topic of interest to him or her and write from personal experiences in order to grab the reader's attention! From there, we practiced giving constructive and specific comments that would help the reader improve upon their ideas for the next time!
